BATON ROUGE, La. -- LSU women's basketball superstar Angel Reese has declared for the 2024 WNBA draft, adding her name to an already impressive list of prospects hoping to make a name for themselves in the professional ranks.
Reese, a seven-time All-American and three-time SEC Player of the Year, is widely considered to be one of the top prospects in this year's draft class. The Chicago Sky selected Reese with the No. 7 overall pick in Monday's draft.
Reese, known affectionately as the "Bayou Barbie," has been a dominant force for the Tigers throughout her collegiate career. She led the Tigers to three consecutive SEC regular season championships and two NCAA Tournament appearances during her time in Baton Rouge.
The Chicago Sky are expected to benefit greatly from Reese's arrival. The team is coming off a disappointing season in which they finished with a 15-19 record. Reese's addition should provide them with a much-needed boost both on offense and defense.
Reese will not be eligible to enter the WNBA until 2024. However, her decision to declare for the draft is a clear indication that she is ready to take the next step in her basketball career.
