Tyrese Haliburton: The Making of an NBA Star

A Look Back at the Former Iowa State Cyclone's Journey to the NBA

A Promising Iowa State Career

WEB Haliburton arrived at Iowa State as a highly touted recruit. As a sophomore, he emerged as a key contributor for the Cyclones, averaging 12.5 points, 5 rebounds, and 7 assists per game. Haliburton's all-around game and leadership helped lead Iowa State to a 20-12 record and an NCAA Tournament berth.

Overcoming Adversity

In February of his junior season, Haliburton suffered a broken wrist that sidelined him for the rest of the season. Instead of sulking, Haliburton embraced the opportunity to help his team in a different way. He became a coach, leading the Iowa State scout team in practice and providing valuable insights from the sidelines.

A Star in the Making

Haliburton's leadership and work ethic during his injury paved the way for his breakout senior season. He averaged 15.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 8.6 assists per game, leading the Cyclones to a 23-8 record and another NCAA Tournament appearance. Haliburton's exceptional play earned him numerous accolades, including First Team All-Big 12 honors and USBWA All-American Honorable Mention.
